Deeper Than Wide

From a hill overlooking the great divide
Is a river flowing deeper than wide
To a tomorrow further than forever
And a chorus of happily after never
I called you to tell you I’m sorry
For unspoken words and unwritten letters
I’m almost home now, don’t worry
Or this is the endless for worse or for better
Deafening the quiet these thoughts silent
Something inherent to the verbally violent
Erasing the promises on castles of sand
Permanent whispers with invisible crayon
I need you more than lungs need air.
